Interesting article about obesity

Interesting, but the article doesn't deal with how the addition of sugars and carbs by the food industry has contributed to the increase in obesity and related conditions.

Healthy obese people (from what I have read) seem to be able to carry huge amounts of fat, like in layers of it all over their body and be healthy because they are insulin sensitive. The people who are fat only around the waist area are insulin resistant.

I'm guessing it's got something to do with genetics. Not sure how some can dodge the T2 bullet and most can't.

Yep. Some people simply don’t have enough adipocytes (fat cells) in which to safely store unused glucose (as fat). In these cases their liver and pancreas become clogged with it far quicker than those who can become obese, brining about the onset of insulin resistant diabetes sooner than might otherwise have been the case. In addition, some people appear to have a bulletproof pancreas that is able to secrete massive amounts of insulin, seemingly forever. This explains why some people are obese but otherwise metabolically healthy, while some skinny people appear to be healthy but are actually a metabolic disaster.

What an interesting article! It should be read by everybody, but perhaps even more so by slim people. I like the heavy focus on fat stigma and what it really does to us. As someone who has experienced a brief period of being slim and noticed the difference in how other people interact with you, I know both worlds, and they're very different.
Before I lost all that weight 12 years ago, I used to think that my happiness depended on my weight. As it turned out I was still the same Briped, slim or fat, so at least I learned that, and have no unrealistic expectations anymore.
That article is spot on!
