Type of diabetes

Struggling to navigate on here hope this is correct.
I was diagnosed type 2 around 2002 had my sugars under control with tablets and diet. Around 18 months ago I had a triple heart by pass and cannot get my levels back down. I went onto a lantus pen 3 months ago, they started me on 8 units per day and told me to increase by 2 units a time. I am currently on 40 units per day and still fasting test is above 10!!
I saw the diabetes nurse last Friday and I am now on a flexipen with no guide as to dosage? I read somewhere of a starting dosage of 5 units so this is what I have started on.
I live in Lancashire and getting to see the specialist here is a nightmare.
 
Hello Talkarsdad. And Welcome to the Forum. We are all friendly, helpful and supportive on this forum. It does seem a bit "baffling" this site at first! (I've been on it since July, 2014 and still finding my way around!!) There is plenty of knowledgeable people on here and someone will come along and answer any questions.:)
