Hi, my name is Grace, type 2, new here, been on various tablets but just recently put onto insulin, Novomix 30 twice daily injections. Still taking gliclazide too (sp?). My life is fairly chaotic - I have M.E., and I am full time carer to two adult offspring in their twenties living here at home, one a son with complex learning difficulties, the other a daughter with very mild learning difficulties and very complex and difficult mental health disorders. My husband works full time. We both also have depression. I am happy with being on the insulin as I find I feel better on it, but am finding it hard to keep on top of testing and regular eating and yesterday for the first time I messed up because there was a crisis and I completely forgot to take my insulin with my evening meal  . Getting to appointments is also horrendously difficult. My glucose readings are gradually coming down but it seems to be a battle and I am still adjusting the units upwards every few days. I guess I am here hoping for moral support, advice, and dietary tips as I am very obese. Cheers all, Grace.

I can't understand why you should still take Gliclazide ( you got the spelling right) with insulin. Metformin I would understand
Have you asked the medics?

Yep, diabetic specialist nurse said that it might be like flogging a dead horse but she wanted to keep my own ability to produce insulin going as long as possible. i don't want to be on it, it gives me nausea! but then metformin was way way worse, that gave me nausea and rampant runs!

I don't quite understand that, most research suggests that sulphs will cause the pancreas to disintegrate *faster*, which insulin alone helps prevent.

I would have thought having only two variables (diet and insulin) would be an order of magnitude easier than juggling three.
