63mg/dl = 3.5mmol/l

63 is hypoglycaemic. It isn't that low but because the insulin is in your system you should correct it.
If you don't have some glucose tablets then you should take some other rapidly absorbed sugar such as

• 2 teaspoons sugar or 3 sugar lumps
• 100mls Ribena (from carton)
• 3 glucose tablets or lucozade tablets
• 50mls Lucozade Energy
• 100ml cola or 7-up or Sprite (not diet varieties)
• 3 jelly beans or jelly babies or fruit pastilles
• 100ml unsweetened fruit juice (from carton)
• 2 teaspoons of honey or jam
You then wait 15 min and retest. If your glucose levels have not risen above 72 then repeat the 'treament'

If it is still more than an hour to your next meal then you should take 15g of slower acting carb
• Piece of fruit such as a small banana
• Sandwich with 1 slice of bread
• 1-2 digestive biscuits
• Small bowl cereal
• Oat based cereal bar

As you weren't too low then hopefully your biscuits and milk will have been ok. As it was a mealtime then you presumably are going to eat anyway and don't need the follow up carbs. Test to make sure and keep an eye on your glucose levels this afternoon.

Thats what i thought. My meter shows up to 30 I think.
So 63 (3.5 in mmol) is the hypo that you should treat with sugar. Sometimes i dont feel when i get to 3.5 and sometimes i fell hypo when im at 5. There is no rule I guess.

Well there are 2 measurement standards so confusion is sometimes inevitable.

It helps that I'm 'trilingual'.
I use British forums in mmol/l, one meter in mmol/l and the other one and my pump are in mg/dl but then my doctors in France use g/l.
(that can be really confusing, I once told my opthamologist I had a nice low fasting reading of 4.8 that morning , he looked a bit concerned and then it clicked, in g/l that would be the same as 480mg/dl or 26,6mmol/l)

Newly diagnosed taking insulin novomix 30 , 21units in morning and 17 units at night , have issues in late night snack very lazy always get high sugar in morning from 130 to 140

63? My monitor goes up to 30 then just says 'high'...130-140 in the morning?....are there 2 BS readings like KJ/Kcal? xx :?
