Is glucosamine safe for diabetes

Having a quick look round the internet it seems it can affect your blood sugars, also asthma, cardiovascular disease , also it has contraindications for Wafrin & not suitable if you have a shellfish allergy

I would personally speak to your GP or a pharmacist first before taking it just to be sure it’s ok for you
This according to the N.I.C.E guidelines for glucosamine supplements

Cautions

Asthma; impaired glucose tolerance; predisposition to cardiovascular disease

Good morning and many thanks for your advice,

Being a type 2 diabetic and taking metformin, Sitagliptin and Jardiance, I decided to take Glucosamine to stop Arthritis pain in both knees,

Options to deal with Arthritis with the NHS has run out as they stated that nothing can be done and was advised against injections as they are temporary options and lower immune system due to high risk in my case when they run risk assessment (age, background,...),

I could not find the lowest dose of 150 mg but bought the 228 mg tablets from boots,

Just started taking them yesterday but I am reluctant a bit as I have osteopenia as well and do not want any further complications,

I do not check sugar levels as the do not provide me with strips anymore,

Any advice or shared experience is highly appreciated and valued,

Thank you.
