I disagree, I have found that even when my BGs are under control, I am still more susceptible to infections, and my doctor says this is true for people with diabetes. I certainly had more and worse infections when my BGs were higher though.Hi and welcome. We all vary with regard to our immune systems and I'm one of the lucky ones. Diabetes when the blood sugar is under control should have no effect on you being more prone to bugs or being unwell.
Yes, I get really fed up about this too. I get the flu vaccine every year as soon as it is available and I find that helps a lot. I recently had a cold and needed several days in bed, and the cold went on for about 2-3 weeks, instead of the usual 1 week that most people can expect. I just get more rest, drink more water, and take paracetamol, throat lozenges and nasal spray as needed. Hope you are feeling better soon.hey I wondered of people's experiences in terms to the following.
I am off ill today, I find I have a very delicate body and when I'm ill it's quite bad. I work hard on balancing my diabetes so I can embrace life, but I get ill way too much no matter what I do. To add to it I work in a medical setting so it's pretty much feeding time at the zoo for bugs. I have used everything to protect my immune system and lucky I have an awesome business associate who understands my needs. Anyway what I am trying to ask is do you get fed up of being so fragile too poorliness ?
How are you feeling now? Hope you are feeling better each day.Thank you for everyone's kind words. It sounds quite even. I tend to find I am admitted to hospital about 3 times a year. This isn't because I'm not looking after myself it's generally because I get the bug and it scales so high it's hard to control. For example in 2008 I thought I had a cold and a high temperature it turned out to be swine flu yay! So I was I. Isolation and all from a cold
