I have got my levels down from the 20's to between 8 and 13 by counting carbs and having about 25 carbs each meal (3 a day). am doing some exercise and loosing weight, heres my question I cant seem to break though any lower then 8-10 with very strict controlled carbs. I have been reading on these boards someone offered some advice to someone to have just meat fish salad and veg in an attempt to lower BG levels. I am perfectly happy to do this for a while, to see if I can get things under control, however firstly when I was eating too much protein I was told that abput 50% of it can turn to carbs or glucose? and also in the last few days I missed an evening meal so therefore had no carbs in the evening and my BG shot up to 14, which I was told was probably a liver dump. so bearing in mind these two points if I only eat protien and veg/salad would I not have the extra protien turning to glucose/carbs and also have liver dumps? I dont know I dont totally understand all of this, it is so complex, and so hard. it just feels like however hard you try o even having a bloody will iron and the Bg levels still dont go down. sorry for the moan. I just am down as I have practically cut out every single thing i loved out of my diet and its still not good enough or enough to set things straight. Food WAS the best thing in my life. WAS.

I recommend that you get the Collins Gem carb counter book and then you can work out your carb intake with foods that you like. Taking a snack before bed also helps to minimise liver dumping in the morning.
