Is it possible...

One more thing following on from yesterdays RMR discussion

If you want to calculate how much weight you should be losing do

Calories_I_Ate subtract RMR value (this will be a negative number if you are trying to lose weight hopefully!)

Divide that number by 7709 to get a projected weight loss in kilos

or

Divide that number by 3500 to get it in pounds

Those magic 3500 and 7709 numbers come from the fact that a pound of body fat equates to approximately 3500 calories. So if you eat 500 calories less each day than your RMR you should lose 1lb / week.

The ideal way for a low carber to add calories, is in fats. You can drop a teaspoonful of cream into a lot of things, or add some butter. Fats also enhance flavour, so they could help improve appetite.
Low Carb diets need to be high fat to be healthy.

I would like some of you scientific types to help me with my problem which is the reverse of most on the forum
Here goes! I need to gain about half a stone but keep my carbs lowish to keep my BGs down .I have just halved my metformin as suggested by my GP to try to help me to gain weight but I have to cut down my calcium intake because I have too much calcium in my blood I used to eat lots of cheese ,cream ,and butter I am exercising by walking and occasionally riding an exercise bike (very boring) You are all exercising to lose weight but I am doing the opposite How does that work ?and can anyone hazard a guess how many cals I need and how to get them

Day 2 of a full meal. Jeannemum suggested I try a recipe added to the forum by wiflib for chicken and leek soup. I made it tonight and oh boy is it filling. So easy to make and really quite delicious. My daughter and I shared the amount I made, and were both stuffed. So 311 calories all in one meal and all eaten. I am really pleased. Thanks to all who have supported me, I hope this is the beginning of the road to a healthy intake of food.

I must make that soup myself. If you could eat it all with your small appetite, it must be VERY good!

I added more garlic as I love garlic. It has butter in it so adds to the calorie, so is perfect for me. I had a ready cooked chicken and I added all the breast along with three good sized leeks, I don't have salt so my daughter added at the table, it was delicious and is so easy and quick to make. Thank you for the suggestion, it really is lovely and something I will make again and again. x

I should add I did only have one bowlful it's very filling, cheap as chips and healthy, so a win, win recipe.

Glad to know you all love it as much as I do. I put a googly sized lump of very cold or even frozen, butter in it on serving.
