I'd like to hear from pre-menopausal to post menopausal experienced metformin takers.

Has your metformin experience differed alot throughout your menopausal years?

My periods have stopped but very abruptly which I wasn't expecting since I get PCOS symptoms but metformin solves this normally.
I'm 47. Am I starting the change or is metformin to blame?

As someone whose periods stopped early one Monday morning (in an operating theatre, deliberately on the first day of Wimbledon), I can't give you any advice on the menaopause. Even though I kept my ovaries, I was one of life's lucky devils who had zero menopausal symptoms whatsoever, but subsequent blood tests evidence I have completed it.

When you say your periods have stopped (suddenly), how long is it since your last period, and do you still "feel" like there's a cycle going on, but jsut without the usual outward evidence?

As I am sure you know, any unexpected changes should be mentioned to your GP.

I think PCOS is back. Greasy facial skin and hairs are tougher to pluck. Hormonal but blood test should flag it up. Ive had no metformin for months. Just been increased to required prescription recently and hasn't giving any benefit, yet. Loose tummy on a morning still, because of it and sweating due to hot weather. Feeling dizzy as low on minerals maybe. Iron is extra food items but it may be low too.
Having blood tests this afternoon I would think, as seeing surgeon.
I'm drinking plenty and salt in some foods. Smoked bacon and ham etc. Multivitamins too.
My ankles are skinny but still have water balloon tummy. Furosemide only works for 2hrs. Tummy is worse on an evening when relaxing.

Periods normally turn up immediately on restarting metformin but none this time. Missed 2 months of bleeding but when iron was deficient period stopped then too.
