hi all, I am new to this sight and just a concerned parent.

My 16 month old daughter has been in and out of hospital several times in the past month suffering mainly from hypoglycemia, she was very unwell and her sugar levels were really low at 1.1 being the lowest and 4.0 being the highest.

Then once home although she was a lot better in herself and more active, her sugar levels before meals ranged from 10.2 to 11.8, always before lunch, it still is in the 10's before meals but after meals she goes back to normal ranges.

She has yet to be diagnosed with diabetes, but was just wondering if any1 out there had similar experiences before being diagnosis?

Hiya and welcome to the forum!

No-one on here can diagnose your little girl as we're not medically qualified. However, your daughters high levels are definitely in the diabetic range, but her low levels are way to low. Usually, diabetics only drop low (hypo) because of our injected insulin. Diabetes naturally gives high (hyper) blood glucose readings rather than low ones. Has your baby been treated with insulin at all? If not, diabetes wouldn't really explain her lows.

Hopefully one of the parents of diabetic children will be along soon and will be able to tell you of their experiences. In the meantime, keep an eye on her levels and go straight to the hospital if the levels are worrying you -high or low!

Good luck. I hope you get a diagnosis soon.
