I just feel for some posters who are knocking themselves because they've read exceptions and feel that is the mean. Not a true perspective. Not everything you read on the net is true. I've learnt that the hard way! Sorry, but true.
I respect your view @AndBreathe due to reading your posts and evaluating whether your genuine. Not everyone is like you.
Yes additional you're trusted due to being a moderator too which tags you as a trustworth source. Of which I thank you and feel reassured for.

Thank you for the reassurance.

@ickihun - Edited just to say that it would be a little naive for anyone to consider that all of those who have achieved good things with their healthy have done so without much effort.

I think I had an easier time than most, but some of these folks with good scores go to extraordinary lengths to do so.

I do hope you can avoid the bariatric surgery because the list of potential side effects over all terms and all durations reads like a horror story. The prospect would scare me rigid.

I feel slightly down with some of the comments. I struggle almost daily to keep control and sometimes it's very hard. Today I almost gave up but couldn't decide whether to stop eating completely or just eat what I wanted. In the end I settled for my usual food but probably too much. I find diabetes has taken over my life, both food and exercise. Yes I have got some control but it's a daily battle.

@Hiitsme I'm sorry I had to bring up the subject in this thread but a lot of newees are getting despondent and feel they are letting themselves down. When in fact are doing a fantastic job at maintainance and keeping complication free. As you know diabetes is for life and not just for people not working hard enough to get classed as in remission. Those in remission still have to work hard to stay in remission. No cure but definitely a fantastic life in good maintainence. I assure you there is a huge difference in fighting a weight problem and keeping diabetes in good control. To be honest I can get my control with a flick of a switch but fighting a weight problem due to health problems is my highest and more difficult of tasks. Diabetes doesn't scare me nor give me sleepless nights but being over weight DOES. These to me are completely different fights. But that's just me. I know I don't speak for everyone, maybe not even a few but I speak only for myself.

Hiitsme - I don't think there's one of us hasn't had a day like that. I think to be honest, the best you can do is try to bumble through the day and start anew tomorrow.

Thanks @ickihun and @AndBreathe
Ended up going out for a meal last night and had both rice and ice cream. Both I do occasionally have as a treat now and only 5.8 this morning. Today I feel better and more able to keep on track.
@ickihun I do feel for you with a serious weight problem I only had a couple of stone to lose and with 4 to 5 months of hard work I had lost the excess weight and got control of my diabetes. I do hope you can find a way of losing weight and keeping control of your diabetes. Bariatric surgery sound so drastic. I have to keep control of my diabetes as I do have diabetic complications although minor in comparison.

I've been admiring your work @Hiitsme for some time. Your efforts make a huge difference to your control and you're one of a few of my inspirations on here. Thank you for encouraging me. I wouldnt have halved my insulin needs without your support and encouragement. Your likes and winner tags have made a difference to me and my struggle. Thank you, my friend.
