I was £40 for all of my medical records. I required them for my back to work medical after diagnosis. Even though I only needed the diabetes related info, the difference in cost between that and the whole lot was negligible.A dollar per page? Ridiculous to have to pay for the printed copies of results. I get it free from my doctor in Alberta. I think it depends on the clinic, some would charge 25 cents per page and some are just free.

Hi Kristin, nope, no basal yet, just bolus. I have no idea what my last c peptide was. My endo doctor doesn't like giving me any numbers, even when I ask specifically. Isn't that strange? She's just said things like 'your cholesterol is a bit high' or 'your A1c is good'. When the LADA results came back she said I had some antibodies and had a little bit of insulin left. That's all I know.
I haven't eaten new foods, I pretty much stick to what I know as it's easier to count carbs that way. I haven't lowered fat at all. It has been super hot here, as well, but the insulin doesn't seem to be working any better for me! I even thought my pen might have gotten too hot and switched it for a new one, but that didn't help.
I had a salad for lunch today, all veggies and some guacomole mixed in, and the dressing was 1 carb per tablespoon. Something told me to bolus 6 units, and I did it and it was just enough. I'm shocked to think I need 6 units just to eat a salad? It seems so high to me.
It really is. For the longest time I felt like because we have national healthcare in Canada, we didn't have to worry about doctors wanting to milk the system for money. Boy was I wrong. Now doctors won't give you test results over the phone, and some don't renew prescriptions unless you go in to see them. This way, they can bill the provincial healthcare system for each visit, whereas, they can't bill for a call or an RX repeat. I've been called in before to review blood results, where I've been told they were fine and I had nothing to worry about. What a waste of time. Also, as someone with an autoimmune disease, i have a ton of RX's. Going in to see the doctor for them every 3 months is not ideal, when I go to a diabetes clinic and an endocrinologist every 3 months too.Honestly, it is a money making business. I always thought our doctors care for the patients, but in reality they only care to line their pockets. Same everywhere.

Exactly. AND they're always double booked. So if I have a 1:15 time slot, so does someone else. It's getting really ridiculous. My doctor only spent two minutes with me most of the time. Write a prescription and that is all. I always feel like he is always wanting to get rid of me ASAP so he could see the next patient.

Are you on basal? If I remember correctly you're just on bolus, or was that someone else? If you're not on basal it might be time. When was your last c peptide?
I have days/weeks that I am slightly more insulin resistant/ sensative. Have you added new foods? Sometimes things that shouldn't spike us do? Have you lowered fat? If I don't have enough fat ( avocado) I go much higher and faster.
Has the weather changed a lot ? We just got a lot warmer and my insulin is working too well, I'm needing to snack and I really don't want to. I'm kind of fighting to keep bs up these last few days.
Could be many things....lots of variables. This is why I basically eat the same meals everyday. I don't mean the same food per se but the same macros at each meal. I mix up the proteins but veggies and fats stay similar but quantity goes up as the day goes on.
Yesterday I spoke to a mom with a 4 year old t1dm. He's been having that for 2 years. She's pedantic abt his condition and has maintained a perfect 5 for him throughout the day, even over meal times. They are on freestyle libre so they can see the results by minute.
She says, one wouldn't have hypo if one doesn't inject too much insulin, so the key is to require as little as possible. Her son is on 1.5 novorapid (I'm on 6) for meals. Her strategy is to feed lots of meat and very little carbs.
Hope this helps.

So untrue and the only doctors or dieticians that use this excuse are the poorly educated ones.
I bind the opposit. My reaction and awareness is much better now on low carb. I never crave sugar, dicusting worthless stuff.I do find my reaction and awareness dropping quite a lot when on Low carb. Coincidence?
Pre diagnosed, 36 years as a healthy person, whenever I strain my mind, I crave sugar. Wonder if there is a reason for that too.
