firstly sorry for making tons of threads I just been obsessing since I been diagnosed as prediabetic and really trying to get things right. Anyway I had an Indian takeaway with tandoori and paneer last night and checked my blood sugars before and after. Before it was 5.3 and 1 hour after it was 7.6. I know I shouldn't check after only 1 hour but I was about to go out and wouldn't have been able to check an hour later. Is this average or should it have been lower after an hour for a supposed low carb meal?

I'm normally at my highest 1 hour after and then go down by 2 hours. I don't very often test at an hour so it might be worth your checking one meal at an hour and again at 2 hours.

no that is very normal and matches my non-diabetic wife.

After an hour that is normal. However, you have no idea what you were at the more crucial 2 hours. Were you still on the way up, or were you dropping? You will never know.

just ponder what you ate. what was its carb content. i assume rice and some flat bread. the paneer will have about 2 per 100g so not that. treat it as treat and dont worry about it. it will spoil your pleasure in food. being a strict carber i was surprised by the pork ribs make sure you know what your scoffing iywill help make sensible choices. try this web site it may help http://www.myfitnesspal.com/nutrition-facts-calories/indian-takeaway/3

rice is an interesting one. For me it raises me to mid 6 to high 6 and leaves me there for about 4 to 5 hours. Dont know if others see the same thing.

I am with paulus1 though. enjoy and don't over analyse or you will stop eating everything out of fear
