Checked my BG at 11am and was 9.2, two hours later was 5.1. The only thing eaten was eggs for breakfast at 9am.???

Hello newman43
Did you check that 9·2 with a re test ? It could have been a dodgy test strip.
Whenever I get a unexpectedly high result, I always give my hands another scrub and test again.
If it is still high, I just record it and move on. Our bodies are not machines and sometimes they surprise us

Similar happened to me a few days ago - tested 2hrs after my tea a well tested meal that usually has me in the mid 5s was 9.7! Washed my hands and retested 5.1 - had forgotten that after my tea I had cut up an apple for my son and it was the juice from the apple left on my skin - I always retest if I get an unexpected reading - note to self wash hands when testing just don't stick finger under running tap and shake lol

I always consider anything to do with diabetes control more of a black art than a science.BUT that's just my opinion:cyclops:...
I sort of have a 'feel' for what is going on with my bg . Also a good idea to retest is it looks dodgy. I have had similar readings that appear to be correct.

Hi Nuthead. You're obviously quite "sensitive" to your bg. Unfortunately I'm not (apart from a hypo of course). I get the surprise of my life if I've sunk down to 5 and the same thing when I've rocketed up to 10 as I feel no different. I always retest just in case, but usually only get a variation of about 0.5. I agree, it's a black art not a science. Wish this diabetic life could be a bit simpler.
