Hi I wander if anyone has any information available with reference to an operation that has been offered to me by my consultant recently by having the islets replaced with new islets in the pancreas but by having this done I would still be required to run the insulin pump giving me a low basal rate also I understand like all ops there could be complications

Hi Chrival and welcome to the forum.

I have found some information for you that may be of help.

http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/pancreaticislet/

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/What-is-diabetes/Diabetes-treatments/ Islet transplants is the last article on this page.

I cannot recall another forum member asking about this but hope someone else can advise you. If not, at least these articles contain the basic information.

Take care,

CC.
