Hey all, hope you're all enjoying Christmas!

Does anybody else experience issues with their care team? Mine have been so unsupportive lately and I completely understand the NHS is overrun which doesn't help but considering I never asked for diabetes I feel I deserve some help.

I'm continually being refused a pump despite some real progress with my hba1c. It feels nothing is good enough. They asked that I engage and that I lower my hba1c and I've done that but now it's 'not low enough'. I ask what it needs to be for me to be eligible and I'm not given a figure. I'm trying so **** hard and doing everything they ask but I'm getting nowhere.

I feel really defeated. I've made heaps of progress but it's like they don't see that.

hey @philly1991 nice to see you post again although sorry with cirucumstances. What was your hba1c prior and the latest one? try focus on the positives such as you've made heaps of progress. rather than the negative aspect.

In direct reply to your query with issues with care team yes some issues with them, given replies completely ignoring some questions altogether.

Were you able to get some help towards some of anxiety/lowmood you had before?

don't have direct experience on the pump specific part of query so can't really assist with that aspect.

glad to see you post again

So I'm currently at 73 down from 121, I know I still have a way to go but I also know I've made so much progress.

My DSN at my GP surgery was always such a great support but recently they've put me under another DSN at the surgery which has been the worst move. The continuity of care is shocking.

I had a look at my records today and I haven't had an appointment with my consultant at the hospital since February 2023! I've had two appointments booked in but both have been cancelled with no reason why.

Regarding my mental health, definitely better than it was but I still struggle at times. I did notice a regression when the clocks changed, possibly seasonal affective disorder as I've struggled with this before. But I'm here and trying which is what matters.

That' sounds like really good step in the right direction with your hba1c

Mental health issues will be struggle at times glad to hear sounds like youve come long way in that aspect.

Shame that consultant appt been cancelled a few times. Pain management clinics consultant after booking me in a while back was off on annual leave he totally forgot about appt. Lots of reasons for appts to be changed/cancelled could be worth asking Dsn/gp to re-refer. If you still have letter perhaps has an email address or telephone number if secretary could contact and ask directly perhaps?

How are you getting on with fingerpricks and insulin doses keeping record of? Presuming with that large hba1c reduction a lot better so well done with that.

Hopefully someone can let you know some pump criteria. Little knowledge I do have on that is require to be shown as actively engaging not sure on other aspects nor indeed how much. Tagging a couple people hopefully they can give some better insight @Hopeful34 @Nicola M

Your right in matters your trying wishing you the best in success
