Anti-pasti to start, including olives.
Usually lots of nice steak, veal, chicken dishes as a main. Order with veggies. I sometimes order a side salad as well, like with mozzarella, tomato, olive oil.
Yummy.
Anti-past I,forgot about that! I'm not a potato lover so can skip them. Most days I have grilled red peppers (the long pointed ones), spinach or broccoli and a Portobello mushroom, sometimes with meat or not.Anti-pasti to start, including olives.

Some of the sauces the meat dishes come with may be sugary, so watch that. You should probably skip potatoes, or pinch just a few of someone else's if you're feeling daring.
Yummy.
A fish dish with a creamy sauce sounds great, along with a salad. No more spaghetti with loads of garlic for me! Not too keen on tomato sauces.Olives are great - how about a fish dish? Can you look at the menu before you go? - steak, fish, chicken - plain or in cream or butter sauces with lots of lovely veg, salad, Italians do some great salads. Avoid the obvious pasta, bread, tomato sauces are ok in small portions. The most important thing is to enjoy the evening in good company - the food is second to that always - have a lovely time
I've been bad over the past few weeks (hence the weight gain), so I will have to be a bit good! I was due to see the diabetic nurse tomorrow but put the test off for another 2 weeks! Why limit yourself, why not treat it as a learning session, yes see if you can adapt a dish that you like the sound of and ask if they can either leave out the pasta or what ever is the carbs, or reduce the amount and increase the no carb content like the meat balls or something?! test before, and after, then you'll have an idea what to do or ask for next time?
A special night out? don't go crazy but have an enjoyable not quite care free night out!

Not keen on veg soup, but love the sea bass. I'm not eating until 7pm so will maybe miss the pudding. Though if there is a creme brulee type pud I might have to persuade my husband to share one with me!I went out recently to an Italian for dinner, had the vegetable soup for starter, sea bass for main (only had a couple of potatoes and plenty of greens) and treated myself to the Tiramisu (you have to live a little!). We did have dinner very early (it was around 5pm), so my sugar rush from the dessert had time to come down over the course of the evening. (bad I know but sometimes you have to keep yourself motived).
A good idea that - asking the restaurant to accommodate. I went out recently to pizza express (I know - carbs galore). Only had the pizza - no dessert - just coffee. Levels the next morning weren't too outrageous either, despite the pizza (it had been 4 months since I'd had one - but it was nice!)Why limit yourself, why not treat it as a learning session, yes see if you can adapt a dish that you like the sound of and ask if they can either leave out the pasta or what ever is the carbs, or reduce the amount and increase the no carb content like the meat balls or something?! test before, and after, then you'll have an idea what to do or ask for next time?
