Hello

I need some advice. I currently expecting very itchy palm where I do my test (Alternative sites) the skin around the puncture point goes dry and a dry white circle forms with raised white edges. The skin gets itchy and I’m wondering is this normal?

I’m testing 7 times a day and washing hands before testing with a big bloop of coco butter after to moisture my hands.

Does anyone know what could be causing it? The itching and dryness is not all over Just where I do the testing.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Sounds like you're doing everything right. My test sites get itchy when I re-use lancets but don't dry out like yours. I find if I dip the lancet in rubbing alcohol then it doesn't itch. Sorry I can't offer more advice.

On a light-hearted note.

If its your right hand - money coming your way!
So they say.

Unfortunately I have no other concerns about your itchy palm.
I was told itching it sometimes due to your skin healing. My open operation on my burst appendix yrs ago left my scar area itchy when it was healing. It was some itch as it is near on 10inches long. I had internal stitches too.

Sorry you are experiencing this discomfort, it occurred to me that a change of brand of coconut moisturiser or a completely different moisturiser may be worth trying. Sometimes there can be a build up of some of the chemicals in the creams that cause irritations. It is just a thought.
Hope it clears up soon.

Thanks guys for your advice. I think it might be the reusing of lancets. I use one during the day x7 tests. I’ll see if that helps and if not then look at changing creams.

Yeppppppp since I’ve stopped reusing lancets, the itching has stopped but it means that I’ll be spending about £15 on lancets a months.

Is there a medical reason for not testing on finger tips? Many if so GP may help.

I'm guessing your itching was on your left palm then. :(

Left palm I’m actually unable to test on my right palm due to lack of grip on my left. I palm test as my fingers are extremely sensitive and even hours after testing, I’m still in pain.
