Hi, about 2 years ago, my diabetes nurse suggested that to have better control, I should up my metformin to 1000 mg plus linagliptin 2.5mg tablets, twice a day. Before adding the linagliptin, I had no problems. I now suffer from very itchy skin. I have tried medication, and rehydrating creams, to no avail. By going on a low carb diet, my sugars are in excellent control. Anyone have any suggestions? I am type 2.

Probably a good idea to get liver function tests done as some medications can affect the liver and itching can be a warning sign.

Had blood test recently as a six monthly check up, and everything was fine

Could it be due to another factor? I think that biological washing powder makes my legs itch (from wearing socks, obviously). I still get the occasional bouts of itching but suspect it may be a sign of lax control.

Have you read the P.I.L. @bikerbrian
