Jardiance and dry mouth feeling

Hi, I have been put on Jardiance after 10 years of being on diamicron and Januvia. My hba1 has been rising for the last year, so it was recommended to try Jardiance on top of current treatment. I started yesterday morning, and since started getting a strange taste and dry sort of furry, sort of feeling in my mouth since. I'm wondering if it's the Jardiance causing it? I believe I'm drinking sufficient water and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if it would go away? Thanks.

I'm taking Jardiance (empagliflozin) 10mg with no adverse side effects (in
conjunction with Metformin 1000mg). Apparently dehydration can be
an issue with this drug, so I guess all you can do until its effects settle
down is to keep hydrated—maybe a bit more than you currently are?
 
I get a thing called xerostomia which is basically a very dry and sticky mouth. It's a known and fairly widespread condition, but it can have many causes, certain medications being one.

Occasional dry mouth can happen when you’re dehydrated or anxious. But chronic dry mouth might indicate an underlying issue.

It's not linked to medication (on none) or high blood glucose in my case, as it only appeared after my BG was back in normal range, but of course could be something to do with the underlying metabolic problem.
 
If you're taking any of the "flozin" medications high levels of hydration are a must due to the way they work. If you don't drink enough (doesn't have to be water any sugar free liquid will do) you run the risk of thrush. I've been on a sister drug, dapagloflozin for about 7 years with few issues, drink approx 3 litres a day. At 1st you visit the loo more often, but you body does get used to the higher levels of hydration and returns to normal service
 
I've only started noticing this feeling since starting this medicine, so I think it's from this medicine.
 
I drink quote a lot of water up to 2 to 3 litres a day. I'll monitor, and if it doesn't get any better contact, my doctor will see what recommendations they suggest.
 
I've been having a dry mouth for some months. Strangely, it's worst if I lie on my back when the front half of my mouth feels extremely dry. Have just been checking the side effects of my various drugs and only Jardiance fits the bill and the onset of symptoms.

I have the same - if I lie on my back, the front of my mouth gets very dry. Good to know it's the Jardiance.
