Hello All.
My first time posting. Found this site and had a look around, GREAT.
I`m on Metformin and just started Jardiance and are wondering if it’s safe to do LCHF on medication.

You need to discuss this with your medications-prescribing doctor? Or your diabetes nurse? I would think, as yes, low-carbing does affect your blood glucose levels, albeit in a good way.

Consulting them is in order for them to adjust your medications accordingly.

Thanks, I will talk to my GP.

Very good! When it comes to medications - that is truly their area of expertise? I would say.

But, not nutrition! So I would also suggest, you don't ask for advice on that topic! :). Just stick to your guns, and merely smile if you get a lecture anti LCHF. If I was a medical professional I would never hesitate to suggest lowering carbs as the very first thing for those with diabetes, type two at least, but it is extraordinary how seldom one hears of that. It does happen! But too too seldom.

I have had some very odd dietary recommendations from otherwise wonderful medical professionals, coming from a place of, if you don't mind me being blunt - ignorance! (In this regard, medical professionals can be just as knowledgable as someone you might sit next to in a pub, on the subject.) Examples? Eating fries AOK. Lay off pork. (Two different GPs.) As you are new to this game - you can start collecting funny doctor's surgery dietary recommendations in order to entertain fellow forum-ites with? Always entertaining for us! And a fun way to endure it.

As an LCHF-er in the current times, do I think you might have experiences with conventional medicine you might have to endure? Yes, alas.
