So, I've been T2 since 2005. I've been prescribed all sorts such as Metformin, Gliclazide, 2 types of non insulin injections so far back now I can't remember their names (I think one was Victoza). As , at time of diagnosis I was a taxi driver, I would have had to surrender my cabby licence for up to three months if I were to accept insulin as a treatment. As losing my livelihood for that amount of time was not an option I have remained on just MF and Glic for all this time and have tried my best to keep high blood sugars at bay with varying amounts of success. My latest HbA1c was 9.7 (Suffolk measurements) which is way too high. So my recent visit to the diabetes centre at Ipswich Hospital prompted the lovely lady there to suggest a new treatment which I could take alongside my other two meds. Jardiance was prescribed and she told me it would flush out sugar from my kidneys straight into my urine and should control my levels much better. Since starting it about 5 days ago I have to say its definitely helping me keep my bg's under control. It's also helping that I'm eating much less carbs in my diet but I would definitely suggest that if any of you are offered it to give it a go. My waking readings have been below 7 most mornings (which is amazing for me) and If I can keep it up hopefully my Hb1Ac next time round will be much improved. Watch this space
