Job interview on Tuesday

I have a job interview on Tuesday for a nursery assistant. Thing is, I have a kidney infection, and I'm worried that, IF I do get the job, they'll ask me to start straight away. I've been on antibiotics now since Thursday and I've just woke up feeling sick, again. But not sick enough to go hospital. What should I do?

Firstly, good luck in Tuesday Chloesnavy.

I wouldn't be too concerned about potential start dates for now. Firstly, you may (hopefully) feel much better by Tuesday, and secondly, I doubt many employers would be able to start you next day anyway. That would be assuming that you are not in work at the moment, and looking for a change.

I have no idea what red tape your potential employer has to go through when starting someone, but working with children, I'm wondering if they have to do a CRB check, or the like. If they need to do this, it seems highly unlikely they'd do it before making their choice, as there is a cost involved to them.

Just relax for now and prepare for your interview to make the most positive impression you can and if you are offered the job see what they propose for a start date. Simplistically, you could be just about to go on holiday for all they know. If there are no background checks/references to be done, I'd think they'd be looking at the start of the following week, at the earliest.

Good luck, and cross that bridge when you come to it. I'll cross my fingers for you.

As a manager I would never be asking anyone to start immediately, we have legal and admin things to sort out so I think you would be safe.
Hope you are getting better and that all will be well for the interview. Hope you get the job.

@Chloesnavy Health first - if you feel you're getting worse, phone 111 formadvice. Your health is the most important thing.

As for the interview, it's unlikely they'd ask you to start straightway. They usually ask when you can start. You may also have checks that need to be done before you start if you get the job, so don't worry. If you feel you won't interview at your best, you might want to let them know you're on antibiotics (it's up to you),

Good luck

Good luck for Tuesday!

Good luck on Tuesday, but don't forget that if you don't feel well on the day of the interview, you should let them know and you can expect them to defer the interview they have offered you.

Good luck on Tuesday @Chloesnavy, I hope you get the job. Sometimes medication can make us feel unwell/sick. Also if you are employed as a nursery assistant, you would need to be CRB checked.
If you are still feeling unwell, call 111 for some help and advice.
Fingers crossed for you, take care and I hope you feel better very soon.
