After 4 weeks of feeling very poorly I have now been diagnosed with Type 2. I have been on meterformin for two days. Have woken up this morning after a rubbish sleep and feel sick and weak even after breakfast. Feel so fed up! Any tips?

Welcome to the forum and taking the first step to getting control over your condition. I am sure Daisy will be along soon with all the advice which we share with all newly diagnosed members.

Metformin is a well tested drug which will help your body deal with your raised blood glucose levels but it is not a cure and you need to take control yourself. It does take the body a short while to adjust so bear with it. Some people do have side effects such as upset stomachs but it usually subsides. If not do ask your GP for the slow release version which is much kinder.

Diet and exercise are key to control so do look at the posts on the forum for more information.

Share more information with us so we can help more. What are your blood glucose readings, are you overweight, what is your normal diet.

You can get on top of this with our help.

Thank u for your quick response. I had what I now know was a hyper four weeks ago, went to hosp and was told I had anxiety and was put on antidepressants. I knew this wasn't the case and I just had a feeling! I went to see a nutritionalist who put me on a very strict low carb low sugar diet and felt fine for a week then went rapidly down hill, shakes, confusion, fear it was awful. Back to Drs who sent me for blood tests, referred for a GTT, results were 5.8 fasting 12.8 after glucose. I am 39,.was 14.7 but now 13.6 so have lost a stone in a month. I am having a very controled diet and not ventured onto anything naughty. It has taken four visits to the GPS and a lot of anxiety and panic to reach where I am now.
