Hi, I have just been diagnosed with Diabetes which has not come as a shock as such because my late mother had it and my older brother has it. However, I was shocked the way the nurse informed me about it when I got to the surgery. She just went straight and told me that, following the blood test done recently, it shows you have diabetes. Luckily i was with my husband to lean on. Well, i know it is not a life threatening condition but I would have expected the nurse to may be start by asking me how I have been feeling of late bla bla before dropping the bombshell. However, I am ready to deal with it as I know I am not alone

Hi, welcome - I'm afraid your experience is not untypical of the offhand way that T2 diabetics are handled by the NHS.

But don't panic, you're in a good place here. Do you know what your blood test results are?
