Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
I was diagnosed around 3 weeks ago with type 2 and on monday I had my first hba1c test done and today I got the result back as 48.. I understand this is pretty low? Does this mean my diagnosis was wrong?

It's a good result, with an equivalent of 6.55% in the old units. Still means you're diabetic I'm afraid, BUT, you're only just past the top end of the pre-diabetic stage. This means you should be able to control it very easily with sensible diet and exercise. With that, many of us on here are in the 5%s with our readings, some are even down to the 4s. So there's something to aim for!

Thank you :) I was a little concerned when the receptionist told me that it said the results are 'normal, no follow on needed'. Would my change of diet since my GP first mentioned he thought I had diabetes, prior to having my 2 fasting bloods taken, of helped lower this number? My BS are lots higher than that though - this morning after my cereal my bloods were 11.1

yep if you've improved your diet from diagnosis to the HBA1c being taken then you will have improved the HBA1c.

the HBA is always (i think) lower than your meter reading, as you meter read is a snapshot of that moment, the HBA is an average over 3 ish months.

Personally I would knock the cereals on the head if I was 11's.
