I've just recieved my SD Codefree and watched the youtube video which shows me how to set it up and use it. It has been about 2.5 hours since brunch so I done a test and it came out at 6.1, I'm guessing this is good?

So I was diagnosed type 2 a week today and since Saturday have been following the LCHF diet and just realised, i' m not sure of the process of testing.

If following that diet, is it necessary to test often as the foods I am eating should be helping to keep my BG down no?

I planned to test first thing in the morning (do you need to wait any time?) and then seeing as there are little carbs in my diet only meats and veg do i need to test any other time or should I introduce some carbs and see how i react?

Thank you for reading

I have been diagnosed for just over 6 months and now on metformin. Why I didn't get a meter before I really don't know, but the first reading, pre lunch was a very disappointing 11.2! I do take some meds which can raise bg but even so!
I've lost 4kg in the last month by reducing carbs (<60g) and exercise. From reading this forum I know I need to use the meter to work out what triggers spikes for me.
What do I need to do other than this to get the average reading down? Hope don't need more medication.
Thanks in advance

Please remember that all test strips can read higher or lower .. My code free box at them moment is reading high .. So test before and 2 hrs after eating and try not to jump more than 2. Higher than the before test .. I know my strips are reading high as I have another meter with strips to pricey to use every day :dead:
Try reducing the carbs to around 30g a dat .. It works for me

Thanks for posting the query. I'm planning to get this meter tomorrow, after I've had a re-test (HbA1C).
