hi all just to let you know,I am type 1 and have been for the last,24 years.
For the last 4 years I have had severe thigh/calf cramps at night.for at least 5 nights a week.
GP kept putting down to back injury/and neuropathy.
Finally after stopping Lisinopril the cramps have stopped, not had any for the last 15 days.
Just wanted to let you know,in case any one out there, has a similar problem with cramps.
Would hate to think of someone having this for as long as I have
Thanks Tom

Hi there Tom

Thanks for posting this; I started lisinopril in January and by February I was on the full 20 mg.

Did you notice or have any other side effects that you could attribute to the lisinopril?

Kind regards,
Conrad

One possible reason for these could have been an electrolyte imbalance, Lisinopril can cause this in some people. I had severe headaches and several tests showed mild electrolyte imbalances (low sodium in particular) which went back to normal when i stopped. I would have imagined your GP probably offered you a blood test when you first reported the symptoms, though?

I had horrendous side effects from taking Lisinopril principally swelling of hands face and other ahem parts of my anatomy. Was painful enough then my face got a really bad SA infection,I looked like I had been in a car crash.Took a lot of anti-biotics to fix it.
Lisinopril as far as I can remember is a synthetic version of South American Pit Viper Venom.Nuff said!

Lisinopril caused me to have severe cramps in my hands, once I stopped the drug the pain went!

I've been on 30mg Lisinopril for around 20 years with no trouble at all, just shows how differently we all react to drugs.
