Hi, ive started eating low carb in the past 4 days so im able to have better BG levels, my levels have been in the 4's and 5's which is perfect for me.
I just tested my ketones and im at 1.3, is this anything to be concerned about? Or am i fine to carry on with this diet?
Please note, I am not type 1. However, my understanding of ketones (avid follower of Tim Noakes) is that nutritional Ketosis (good) is ketones up to about 2.5. Ketoacidosis (scary / very dangerous for Type 1s) is above 5.

I run my ketones between about 1.5-2.5mmol. My consultant and dietician would rather I stayed out of ketosis, because they have to say that, but said to keep it below 3mmol and prescribed me plenty of blood ketone sticks, so I can keep a close eye on it.
I keep my carbs to 30g a day, my blood sugars are within my 4.5-7.5 range and nice and even. It’s only really a worry to have ketones if they are high in conjunction with high BG. This chart might help, from “The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living”, which is a bit of a bible for me!
There is ketosis - the natural burning of fat for energy, blood glucose is low, everything is good.
There is ketoacidosis, blood glucose is out of control and increasing, ketones increase - not at all good.
The two states are entirely different. Once is sustainable and the other requires rapid attention.
