The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
As menopause has hit, I now have the lovely appearance of Mrs Christmas! Has anyone any thoughts on home IPL hair removal brands etc? Would it be okay do you think to use one, for some reason they say not to. Perhaps due to the heat etc. A lot of them now have a cooling function. I know that they take a while to work but at present I have been using the NO NO which just burns the critters and I want something more effective, plus the "singed" smell is vile lol. It is for the dark hair not the fuzzy hair lol and I have olive tone skin. Hope I have made you guys giggle a bit and many thanks in advance for any advice/experiences ;)

I’ve suffered with a lot of facial hair since my mid 20s because of PCOS and tried everything known to man (or woman) in the last 35 years and I find the best thing by far though it can be a tad expensive is getting waxing every 3 or 4 weeks at a salon, depending how much hair you have you may be able to leave a bigger gap between treatments.

Regular waxing does lessen the thickness & amount of hair over time, I did try electrolysis a few years ago but it was far too painful

The things we have to go through. I have a patch that is under my chin about the width of two inches - seems to be spreading and a strip along one side of my jawline again about an inch in diameter and that's it. All the other bits I can cope with but I have found waxing, threading and the No no are just not cutting it. There is a cream that inhibits growth but its so expensive for a small tube I guess that's why I thought of ipl. Guess I could give waxing a go but if I leave it too long I am like Mrs Christmas! Guess I could wear a scarf but I just cannot face it as its really dark hair. Apparently I can thank my grandmother for that!

I used that cream - didn’t work that well for me - but I’ve also heard good reports about it, I have the hot wax one - you know the black one that you see all the guys getting their noses & ears done on social media and crying like new borns - that’s very good for tougher hairs (can’t believe I’m saying all this on an open forum hahaha!) but it is a very common thing with PCOS & menopause- maybe we should just embrace it (not)

I go for regular electrolysis. Works well but it is a never ending battles against Hormones which cause them

Totally agree, I used to be like a dolphin no hair practically anywhere - that could be seen if you know what I mean lol! Now is the revenge of the cave man!

I have a hot wax machine that I have never used. I might just fish that out and give it a go. Years ago we did a sponsored wax off with some rugby players in a salon I worked in, it was all on the name of children in need but it was so funny I cried! When I worked in a hospital once of the male consultants on a female ward reluctantly tried an epilator on his leg, you would have never seen anything so funny, he was so brave! :hilarious:
