A few months ago, I nearly had a full blown argument with a nurse who smugly told me that a cure for type 1 had been discovered in Europe and that it was time the UK caught up and that soon everyone with type 1 would be cured...I tried to remonstrate with him but eventually gave up. He couldn't give me any actual facts or even say which country. I should add he wasn't a DSN and also said Type 1s mustn't ever eat grapes as they had too much sugar in them (I'm talking about 3 grapes...).
I would love to think there will be a cure in my lifetime but I doubt it somehow. It has been good to see the advances that have been made in recent years though.
I live in an area in the U.S. Where marijuana is legal and get tired of ignorant people telling me it will cure type 1. I also have cancer and apparently it cures that too. You can go to dispensaries (pot shops), tell what you have and they will mix up a joint for you to smoke.
Earth was once also flat
I would strengthen that statement to "People shouldn't say something about Type 1 diabetes if ..."
With so much in the media about type 2, most people don't think of type 1 when they talk about diabetes.
I'm still green enough to be dreaming of a reversal. It gets me up in the morning.

The truth is if you do not actually have the condition, whatever it may be. You have no understanding of what it is like to have and live with it, so should not offer up an opinion. My own are Type 1, arthritis and Lichus Planus. Any condition outside of these areas are not for me to comment on. And hopefully no more will come along.
How could you possibly have knowledge of how type 1 diabetes affects any individual on a day to day basis.
I do not think your relatives are correct on that one.it would appear that person doesn’t realise that our pancreas no longer works and this why we need to inject insulin! On saying that though, I do know of an operation T1’s can have, although the NHS don’t like doing it, and that is the islet transfer (this appears to kickstart a diabetics pancreas). I have relatives in Canada and they say as soon as someone is diagnosed as T1, they have the islet transfer op?!
