First you can retest. I assume you're using a blood ketone meter, in which case 7.9 is very high and you should call for an ambulance or get someone to take you to the hospital immediately. If you have to wait for the ambulance, drinking water may help a little, but it's not going to resolve the problem.Need some advice please, my sugars are generally high, not able to get them under control but just checked my keystones because my mouth is so dry and my keytones are at 7.9 I don't feel particularly poorly, abit of a headache and feel alittle like I have a hangover, should I go to hospital or stick it out at home with lots of fluid??? Help please!

No, you need to go to the hospital when they're that high. It's still much, much too high, and the acidity it's causing in your blood can do serious damage.Yes using keystone machine, had 6 units after last reading just checked again and they are down to 4.9, doin just ride it out out with water and keep testing??
Good luck @Mellie_P let us know how it turns out.Thank you for all your advice I will go to hospital now. X
The OP refers to a "ketone machine" something I've never heard of. Is that a meter like a glucometer? I'm only familiar with the old urine dipsticks which light up when there are ketones in the urine. I'm guessing the OP was manifesting signs of DKA which should be treated in a hospital of course, using IV insulin infusion usually.
