Keep yourself hydrated and keep monitoring your ketones. I'd also give your DSN a ring as soon as you can, as ketones can be very serious.Hi everyone! Hope the long weekend has treated you well. Just wanted to check something with you all.
Since Friday I've had high blood sugars (always in double digits... highest 18.9) until today where I'm back to single figures. I put it down to the Honeymoon Period tapering off and have increased my mealtime insulin slowly. Looking to do basal checks throughout the week to see if that needs to be increased as well.
However today, I've been vomiting since noon, have ketones present up to 1.5 (urine test), and a thumping headache but normal blood sugar (6.4 ten mins ago). I was wondering if this is something you would generally worry about or just keep an eye on?
Sorry for the long post - I feel I always post when I've got something wrong, not something positive to say! :/
Thanks in advance.

Did you check for ketones at all over the weekend when you had high BG?
I'd imagine that you're needing significantly more basal insulin with BG that high. It's best to get that sorted before playing with meal time ratios. Your DSN will be able to advise if you're not comfortable adjusting your doses on your own.
Could you be ill @empink ? There is Norovirus around, plus other bugs too.

I did wonder if the high blood sugar was a warning sign something was coming but I'm not 100% sure. I never know if something is wrong because of diabetes, or illness or anxiety! I think I'll go to the walk in clinic tomorrow morning to see what they say!
That's no problem, I wish I could be of more help.Thank you for your advice! I was checking for ketones and was either negative or traces (I was told not to worry if it was traces) throughout the weekend.
I've not had a whole amount of help with the basal/bolus as I was labelled as honey mooning and am taking 2 units of basal and was told to take 2 units of novorapid at meals. Then they told me to take what works for me so I've been carb counting and guessing units as I've no idea what my ratio would be! My next appointment with the nurse is in June. They don't seem to be too interested to tell you the truth!
Sorry to be unloading but before all this started in Feb I've never had any health issues and am really struggling with all the 'rules!'
