First time in 5 years i have had ketones today I'm fine now and not in hospital my ketones was 0.9

I've not had diabetes as long as you, just since Aug 2017 but I've read a lot. I can't tolerate ambiguity so I need specifics so when I read "high ketones" I want to know what the level is.

This is what I've found out (Googling various sites) and I'm positive others here will either agree or not, hopefully the former
Very low ketone level: less than 0.5mmoL
Light ketosis 0.9 - 1.4 mmoL
Medium :0.9 -1.4 mmoL
High/deep ketosis 1.5 - 3.0mmoL

I was initially told that if my ketones were between 1-1.5 to contact the diabetic registrar at the hospital. I don't know if they were being overly-cautious because I was just at the start of my diabetic journey. Since then, I've been advised to contact the hospital if they go above 3mmoL

I tested mine today and they were 0.7 and I'm not worried.
Hope this helps

Remember you can also get a low level of ketones from your body burning fat. If the level is low and you do not feel unwell, you only need to check your insulin etc is OK, and monitor your ketones to see if they increase.

I know it is more of a risk for T1s but that doesn't seem like a high number.

For T2s on a ketogenic diet anything up to 5 is business as usual.

Take care. :-)
