I do not have diabetes
Is anyone else like myself in permanent ketosis or even close?

I have to very low carb, because of my condition. As I have said before, I'm weird!
However, I know a lot of diabetics do very low carb.

I have obvious reasons for this, but if you do, why?

Since going into ketosis, shortly after my hospital stay, (72 hours fasting test) April 2014 (how time flys?)
I am approaching my consultants target weight. 11 stone. (Was 11st 13lbs)
Lost two sizes, from 38" - 32" XL to L.
Fatty Liver. Normal
Liver function Normal
Heart. Good for my age.
Kidney function Normal.
Bloods. Good
Hba1c. Normal
Blood pressure. Very good.
A touch of arthritis and no rheumatism.
General health, very good.
Urine Normal, still go a couple times each night (extra insulin)
Stools. Healthy and solid.
Sleep. Better than for years.

Pancreas still over producing but better for being in ketosis.

I'm fitter, healthier, better and a lot more energy than I had twenty years ago.
All my symptoms from the past, from having RH have more or less disappeared.

Hopefully non of the dreaded side effects that have been touted about, haven't appeared yet!

I do believe, that it is the best lifestyle for me personally.

I don't do very low carb but I have a non-diabetic cycling mad work colleague who has been doing it for about a year and half and reports that he never felt better!

I take you mean pedal cycling!!

I have been researching a lot, when I had the time, to read many articles on sports science and dietary control, and there is new thinking that, carb overload for stamina and long distance sports are going to have long effects after they retire even if they keep themselves fit.

The body works well enough without the carbs.

I only sporadically test blood ketones because of the cost of strips and when I do, I get from trace amounts to under 2.0 - so not the deep ketosis that some aim for and not doing anything to boost ketones with MCT and other dietary interventions. Just eating under 60g most days and cycling in and out at times, judging by the infrequent meter readings. I'm not really fussed by being in ketosis or not, my main concern is my BG readings and keeping under 7.8 as much as possible.
