As I keep posting about it u may know I've had loads of bugs and cold and still have the remainder of a cough that's lingering, still messing with my sugars! And been really worrying me. I did my keytones this morning as my sugar was 17 I had 3 units and it wouldn't budge at all. My keytones read as 1.0 I tried to call the nurses but none answered so I thought to be safe I'll go to a&e. They did lots of bloods n said everything's fine. They sent me away and said then my keytones were at 1.3!

I've had keytone acidosis once about ten years ago and can't remember it really. I'm not sure what I need to be doing now to stop the keytones coming back as my sugars are still all over the place when I eat. Even if I have extra insulin it's still going up! I'm scared to eat anything sometimes!

I'm finding it all super stressful trying to take care of a 19 month old on my own at the same time!! Any advice be greatly appreciated.

Have you upped your basal at all as well as extra boluses. If your ketones stay above 1, whilst using extra insulin go back to a and e. As your doing extra shots of insulin keep monitoring your bloods carefully. if ketones and levels are still raised by bedtime go to a and e again. get well soon

Really? They said to just got back if it goes above 1.5! They didn't seem very concerned tbh! I've been feeling so lousy! This bug is lasting so long :-(

Yep, insist on 2nd opinion if needed. With how you feel, high sugars, ketones over 1 not good

As Brett said you may need to up your basal if you haven't already. I'm on a pump and with colds I quite often have to put my basal rate up by 50%.

Get well soon!

1.5 does seem to be the NHS trigger point although I'm sure you still feel awful. Keep monitoring and hope you start to feel better soon !

But my sugar goes down about 5 or 6 mmols(?) in the night anyway as I was just about to test it to change it when I got ill, so been waiting to get better. Therefore if I add 50% it'll drop too much in the night?

I checked my keytones and they seem to be back to normal at 0.1. But I've got an aweful headache coming on so I'm gonna go to bed! :-(

0.1 is fine but I would continue to monitor until you start to feel better, the following explains about ketones and when to check and seek advice:
