Hi, I am sorry that nobody has responded to your post, I strongly suspect that there are no members suffering from kidney disease in here, I hope so anyway.

I found one link with a recommended diet for kidney patients but this would not be suitable for a diabetic. Has your father been referred to a specialist dietitian as both conditions need to be taken into consideration when devising an eating plan for him.

You could also contact the National Kidney Federation and other help agencies specifically offering help and advice fore kidney patients and their families, I would have thought that there are quite a few members in similar situation as your father.

No dont feel like this, kidney problems can and are one of the complications of diabetes, so your post is very relevant, let us know how your father is getting on will you.

The forum is meant to be supportive,.sharing experiences, give hints and tips and information and complications and side effects and everything else in between.
What meds is your father taking is he type 1 or 2 and did his kidney trouble start off gradually or all of a sudden. Must be such a worry for everyone I really hope things improve very soon.

And your post can be of great benefit to other people, its not all doom and gloom at all, its reality to some , unfortunately - there are people with side effects/complications, eg eyesight problems to the point of blindness, amputations, etc.

Does your father have access to a PC, he could maybe join this forum?

All the best

Karen
