Hi all , new to the forum. Been diagnosed just over a year and to be quite honest it has been very rocky!

Basically I started to experience pressure on my bladder constantly and the only thing that would relieve it was a hot shower no matter what! So before xmas I was admitted to hospital due to severe bladder retention. The pain in my lower abdomen was unbearable. My stomach was so swollen that I looked heavily pregnant. I am now catheterising every day. I was admitted a month beforehand due to a ruptured ovarian cyst and the doctors did all sorts of scans. They had failed to tell me when I was leaving in October/November that there was signs of kidney damage on my scans due to this bladder obstruction. They said my kidneys were actually refluxing and the nephrons were inflamed as a result. When I was discharged I went to my GP for a prescription and he mentioned hydronephrosis on my notes which the hospital also failed to mention. Has anyone has experience with any of these issues?? (Sorry for the essay)

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I'm sorry I can't be of any help as I have no experience of your problems, but I do wish you all the best.

Welcome aboard, Osull. I'm sorry, I'm another one fortunate enough not to have any experience of kidney issues.

I'll tag a couple of T1 Mods whom I believe are online at the moment. I don't think either have had kidney issues, but they may know of other T1s who have who may have some support to offer you. @himtoo or @azure , can you think of anyone?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi @osull1 That sounds unpleasant and painful.

There are some people here with kidney issues, but I'm not sure if anyone has had similar problems to,you. Hopefully, someone will be along to help in the next few days.

All I can send you is my best wishes. X

Thanks for the replies guys , its frustrating not getting answers from doctors.
