Hi
I did an introduction regarding my symptoms on another discussion that had led me to start testing my bg.
My gp is doing an HBa1c blood test next week.
I bought a kinetik wellbeing bg monitor along with relevant strips and lancets from Argos.
Firstly, is this a good bg monitor? It was fairly cheap for the actual monitor but the strips are fairly expensive (although they all seem to be)
Its been fine, large back lit display, easy to use etc. However, i started off using my left fingers for testing and moved to my right fingers when id put enough pin holes in the left just to rotate and move back when ive done the same with my right.
I didnt notice much difference at first but upon inspection of my numbers i noticed i seem to be getting higher readings on my right hand fingers.
I have been doing a diet of low carb the whole time hence my lower readings.
So this morning i got an initial reading before breakfast of 5.88. I was happy as its been hovering around 7 after fasting for around 10 hours during the night. I put it down to this dawn phenomenon ive read about. So after a couple of scrambled eggs i tested my usual after 2/hours post meal. The reading was 7.72 using my right pinky. Now this wasnt unusual as for the last few days i seem to be at that level post meal. However, as i'd had a lower reading earlier i was surprised so decided to test immediately afterwards in my left finger and the level was 6.38. I was astounded that there could be such a difference?
Can this happen where one hand is much higher than the other. Is it the monitor or maybe dodgy strips.
Like i said i can definitely see my right hand has been giving me higher readings. These readings have put me in type 2 diabetes level rather than pre diabetes i was running at on my left fingers.
