I wonder what is the real cause. Some say diabetes and pre-diabetes causes obesity, some say the other way round. Is it food choices? Most , not all, get our food choices from our parents - and back through the generations. My father was in the RAF police between 1947 & 9 and learned to enjoy the type of meals the German p.o.w.s made. I grew up on cheap, filling, bulky food and my weight went up with my age until I was 16. There again I had tb - caught from my uncle's cow in Ireland - and my parents were told that the children who put weight on - and kept it on - were the ones who survived.

I, personally, don't think I have a fat gene - just fat habits - that I've never managed to control in 56 years. I have kept trying, but am only just learning how to.

Cheers
