Knee Pain...

Hi, I've booked an appointment to see my Doctor (in 2 weeks, he's very busy). I've had arthritis for a good few years and I've had painful hands and feet/ankles for most of that time. It's just a background 'ache' and you get used to it.

Was diagnosed type 2 a few weeks ago and started on metformin (2x500, once a day). These are in addition to Asprin (1x75mg once a day),Tildiem (1x200mg once a day), Ramipril (1x10mg once a day) and Simvastatin (1x40mg once a day).

For the last few nights I've been woken by severe pain in my right knee. Not aware of anything physical I've done to damage the joint and the pain goes with a couple of minutes massage and movement, only to return when I go back to sleep. It seems to be happening more and the pain is more severe.

To be honest I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a hypochondriac as I've been to the Doctors more in the last 3 months than the last 30 years. Are spurious aches and pains one of the joys of diabetes or is it possible the combination of tablets is to blame....or have I reached the age where I get to wear high waisted trousers, snort deeply before every utterance and use the phrase 'dangnabbit' at regular intervals while discussing my bowel movements???

My arthritis peaks and troughs so possibly one of those times but best to check out with the GP-I had a bad experience with Simvastatin but the pains were muscular rather than joints - I know exactly how you feel re the hypochondria feeling it seems like I have spent the last 3 months having some check or another. As for the trousers under your armpits I doubt they will suit you - besdies the time to worry is when you buy one of those little boxes that house a weeks supply of your pills

It's me who's worrying now  I have used one of those little boxes for several years now - it's the only way I can remember which pills to take, how many of each, and when... Also it helps me check if I have taken them or not as I can never remember, dagnabbit... 8)

But I've never tried trousers up to the armpits - I prefer to wait until they come into fashion

Already there,,,But that weekly Pill box now only lasts me one day

Thinking back over 3yrs now when I came off Simvastatin because ,
large red patch on head,my eyes became very light sensitive, My joints became very painful,
things became that bad, I was admitted to hospital to find culprit (Simvastatin) :?

I also suffer from arthritis for over 10years now ,,As soon as my doctor found out i was diabetic
he then stooped my Arthrotec taken for arthritis an anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)

My GP would not prescribe any Long-Term (NSAID) for arthritis only pain killers
Something to do with liver and diabetics
