Hi can some one advice I’m going into hospital on 16 September for knee surgery I’m type 1 diabetic. I have to reduce Tresiba the night before at my pre op assessment they have said nothing to eat after 12 midnight & reduce Tresiba from 70units to 56 units only drink water or black tea/coffee will this be right.
The reason I’m asking is 3 years ago I had a similar issue when my insulin was reduced & by the time the consultant came to see me my blood sugars shot up to 13+ & couldn’t have the procedure what anyone suggest

Regards nanaclaire

We're not allowed to give advice on insulin doses. The best people to do that are your hospital diabetes team, who know you and will have advised other type 1's facing surgery

I hope all goes well for you with your surgery and recovery.
