Lack of care in my borough!

Hello

I'm type 2 diabetics on insulin and metformin.

I've been struggling for some time and in Feb this year I was supposed to have a hip operation however it got cancelled because my Bs were too high.

Since Feb I have been waiting for an appointment at the diabetic clinic. Been to the Drs who claim they have been chasing my appointment.

In June or July I went to my Drs and explained that I am really struggling and I would like to see a specialist because I need to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about. Got an appointment for Oct at the hospital and a week before o was due to go it got cancelled.

So In the last two years I've seen a so called diabetic nurse twice. I haven't had any of the regular checks for my eyes or feet that I was getting before I moved.

I had a blood test 4 months ago and I know for a fact my Bs was probably way to high but my surgery haven't even contacted me.

Who can I tell my concerns to about the level of care in my borough.

I'm at my wits end. I'm looking into private health care seeing as the NHS is not helping

You could contact your MP and ask for his help. It's disgraceful that this has happened to you.

Is there another hospital your GP could refer you to?

Thanks dancer , that's a good starting point.

I'm going to call my GP tomorrow but the GP surgery is part of the problem but I will see how I go

I'm going to look at that too. But they are all in the same borough so they will probably just as useless

contact your CCG. and tell them the problems you are having and insist that you get the help you need. and that you are going to contact pals and make a complaint to them.

Hi sun

The 1st date was changed and then completely cancelled. No alternative just cancelled and advised to go back to see my dr.

I actually called the surgery yesterday and they gave me an appointment to see the senior GP. He was disgusted at what had happened and sat with me for ages and went through everything. He's now re written all my referrals and is going to send them off so hopefully this will get the ball rolling if not he said to come back and he himself will help me to complain

Sounds like your GP is sorting it out for you now. A complaint will often be treated serial and be acted upon. If things don't get sorted as mentioned above you have options. The Trusts Patient Advice and Liaison Service could be your first point of contact.
