Lack of sleep

I was only diagnosed last November, so this is my first summer and while I have experienced no other issues, I am barely sleeping since the bout of very hot weather started. It's not erratic bg, as it's stable and I haven't had a hypo for at least three months. Does anyone else find they struggle to sleep for no apparent reason? I honestly can only put it down to now being diabetic as I have never experienced it before.

Are you sure your bloods are stable all through the night and not dipping and then coming back up? I can never sleep if my levels are going up or down. Having said that it could just be the weather, I think most people struggle to sleep when it's hot...

I very rarely drop below 6 and it's only occasionally above 9. I take very little insulin, only 1 unit of levemir in the morning and 2 at night, and I unit of novorapid for every 15g of carbs. I have been eating a low carbon diet since 2011 following a couple of major ops for Crohn's disease, which I have had 11 years now. I generally eat around 100g of carbs a day, sometimes less, when I take a reading at night it is often around 8 and by the morning it's normally around 7. I just don't get low or high and even my consultant said he's never seen anyone have such a good control. My bg just does not fluctuate much at all and is nearly always between 6 and 8.

It has to be down to the heat and the diabetes not liking it, as that really is the only main difference.

I'm in the same situation at the moment and I'm sure it's just the weather as everyone (non diabetic) I know has the same complaint.

I live near Manchester and so we're really not used to it!
 
I agree I have heard loads of people struggling to sleep at min! My partner certainly is!! Which then means I am, he would probably say the same about me!! It seems to be a much lighter sleep so the slightest thing wakes you up! I've felt like a zombie for two days now during the day which I can only think is due to poor sleep over night!! Wouldn't mind if we were still having a heat wave but we've gone back to the muggy stuff!!

Don't blame you for asking @MickyFinn, it's good to ask questions and share experiences on the forum, well done for getting to grips with your diabetes :)
