Newly diagnosed type 1 had a pub lunch over easter and 2 pints of lager bg through the roof 20.1 . Was it the lager or the meal, bg down to normal in the morning. Forgot meal was pie and chips.
Bit of both. A pint of lager contains about 15g carbs and 10g raises your glucose levels by about 3 mmol/l. So 2 pints would raise your levels by about 9 mmol/l.
You can take insulin for lager up to a couple of pints. After that alcohol has a lowering affect and you don't want to mix the two.
