I've noticed a few people have said that changing your Lantus dose takes a few days to kick in. I don't understand how. As its got a lifetime of 24 hours, isn't it like saying your BG levels are affected by Novorapid injected 15 hours earlier? What happens if you inject double, surely you wouldn't take 3 days to go hypo?

I definitely don't experience this. I've become quite an expert in changing my dose, I change it almost daily based on when I last did exercise and I most certainly see the effect of a change of dose overnight.
 
hi dear am a new member and actually am on lantus and novorapid taking dose 30 lantus in morning and after each meal taking novorapid 8/10/12/14 depending on what i eat. but i need your help. despite these my blood sugar keep on rising and in the morning today was 17.1 !!!!! despite not eating sugarly things at night i took a dose of novo 12 at night but i dont know what to do ? please dont tell me to go n see a doctor! just hearing that make me shoot up. please help me out. what should i eat and how to calculate the carbs in the meal. i am desperately trying to do it since this year but unsuccessful! gone to differnet site on count carbs but i cant do it. please helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
 
I'm not really sure why they say to leave it for a few days but it seems to work going by past experiences, like you I'm baffled as it's only a 24 hour insulin :?
 
I would imagine it's to make sure that the change has been consistent for 3 days before making further adjustments.
 
Since chatting to Sam about exercise and dosages I have been testing with my Lantus and certainly see a difference when I alter my dose after exercise. After training legs I have to drop it down by 2 units to get similar morning reading as a day I didnt exercise.
