I was told that a movement of up to 4.5 is still okay so i am concerned! What is the recommended time gap between dinner bolus and before bed basal? If your basal dose is correct you should in theory stay reasonably flat overnight. So a movement of more than 2 mmol/L up or down might suggest something to be addressed.
This is assuming you have no bolus insulin left on board from an earlier meal.
What concerns me that my sugar dropped from 16.3 to 3.6 when I was back in my hometown.. I'm in the city for college and although I was the same amount of basal and bolus.. that drop was too much. I feel like I need way less insulin in my hometown. 24 units of Lantus simply don't drop my sugar more than 2.2 .. I wonderI don't think there is a recommended gap between the two - in fact I usually take one of my basal doses around the time I have dinner so they're very close together (my Lantus is split 12 hours apart).
A movement of over 4 would concern me as you'd need to be going to sleep at 8 or higher to ensure you're not dropping into a hypo overnight.
