I was diagnosed at age 65 and put on Metformin, then Glicazide but my HbA1c kept on climbing. Finally at age 68 they did a test and determined I was T1. I'm gradually getting to grips with it and thankful I haven't had to cope with the condition most of my life.

Anyone else hit by T1 in later life care to share experiences? Any special problems with being an older newbie?

Hi @snowleopard ,

Yep, I was 54 at diagnosis although I suspect my glucose levels had been high fir a few years prior.

I don't think there are any special problems, and I think the general prognosis is that diabetes develops more slowly with late onset T1 which is a small comfort. You just do what you have to do each day.
