Latest Blood test results?

I was diagnosed T2 in January of this year, my HbA1c was 8.8, I changed my diet and exercised regularly, 3 months later my HbA1c was down to 5.6 with no medication. I have just had the results for my last test result and my HbA1c has gone up to 7.2 [still with no meds] my Cholestrol is up also and at 47 years of age my GP strongly recommends taking Statins.
I'm feeling dissapointed and very confused as my daily blood test strip results were nearly always in the 5's and occassional 6's 2 hours after food but in the 4's after exercise [twice daily] and fasting AM between 5 & 6.
I was convinced my HbA1c would be in the 5's or 6's as the daily test strip results were and have been constant for the last 3 months. I'm not taking any medication and like a lot of people, want to control it with diet and exercise alone, I'm not keen on taking Statins or Metformin for the rest of my life but I'm concerned that I might not be able to acheive good control and the condition may be getting worse.

An HbA1c of 7.2% would suggest an average blood glucose of 10 mmol/l.

If you are happy that your blood glucose readings are frequent enough then I would suggest that perhaps the HbA1c is a dud or mixed up test.. even if you averaged 6 mmol/l that still a low 5% HbA1c... I initally check your meter is working correctly (with control solution).. if it is then ask your doctor for a re-test.. if he refuses then just say that you are going to wait till the next one before you decide on medication.

The ratio's on cholesterol tests to an extent are more important that the overall amount.. without knowing what your results are its hard to advise.
