Just got my latest HbA1C results and to say I'm pleased would be an understatement
I was diagnosed in November 2014 with an HbA1C of 107. I was put on Metformin and immediately went on a very strict LCHF regime for 6 months and started to lose some serious weight and exercise far more than I had before.
After 6 months, I gradually started increasing my carb intake (but continued to carefully watch what I ate in order to keep losing weight - I've lost 8.5 stone in total now)
Fast forward to today, and my carb intake has crept up to around 200g of carbs a day as I've tried to stop my weight loss (still can't touch white bread or anything like that, but do eat brown bread, cereal, brown rice, etc): I've also adopted a "grazing" approach where I eat little and often to avoid having too many carbs at one time.
I've been using a Freestyle Libre so was quietly confident my HbA1c would be OK, but I was still very pleasantly surprised when it came back as 39, which is well within the "non-diabetic" range

I've got an appointment at the end of the month where I'm hoping to persuade my Dr that I can tackle this without any meds now!
